Paul D. Eaton, Major General, U.S. Army {Ret.}

By: admin

“Republican Congress worst thing that’s happened to US Army and Marine Corps”
Friday night on Real Time, Bill Maher interviewed retired Army Major General Paul D. Eaton who was the original Commander in charge of training Iraqi troops. Maher tries to get a laugh out of him but as you'll see, Eaton is a straightforward man who doesn't mince words — if he says it, he means it. He blames Donald Rumsfeld for the majority of the failures in Iraq (including the current problems at Walter Reed), thanks God for the new Democratic majority and lays down some truth:

Rick Reyes’s full testimony before Congress

By: admin
Published: December 24th, 2009

Rick Reye’s full testimony before Congress on April 23, 2009.

Thanks to your efforts, we were able to bring Rick Reyes, a veteran of both Iraq and Afghanistan, to Congress’s attention. A former Corporal in the US Marines, Reyes was powerful and truthful as he told Senator John Kerry and the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, “I urge you on behalf of truth and patriotism to consider carefully and rethink Afghanistan. More troops, more occupation is not the answer.”

Reyes’s testimony raises critical concerns that Congress must address before approving a massive supplemental war funding bill in the next few weeks. Let’s work to halt this war funding bill by calling our Representatives, and urging them not to vote for it until all the questions raised in these hearings have been answered. If you’re not sure who represents you, find out here.

Published: December 19th, 2009

There are over 120,000 private contractors currently deployed in Iraq and yesterday, a House panel put some of the harshest criticisms of this privatization of war into the Congressional record for the first time. The House Appropriations subcommittee on defense held a hearing on Thursday about defense contracting. Testifying before the panel was journalist Jeremy Scahill and filmmaker Robert Greenwald.

Jeremy is a Democracy Now! correspondent and an investigative reporter for The Nation magazine. He is author of the book “Blackwater: The Rise of the World’s Most Powerful Mercenary Army.” In his opening remarks, he spoke about the lack of oversight of the tens of thousands of contractors deployed in Iraq.

Rove Called Out For Iraq Lies by DCCC Chairman Van Hollen

By: admin
Published: November 19th, 2009

Did you see the showdown between DCCC Chairman Chris Van Hollen and Karl Rove on FOX News Sunday?

We told you this weekend about Rove’s recent lies, his claims that Congress pushed the President to war in Iraq in a ludicrous attempt to erase the fact that President Bush started this disastrous, failed war.

Republicans know what a mess they have made in Iraq — we can’t let them rewrite history now.

Chairman Van Hollen took him to task and demanded he retract these outrageous statements. While Rove did a verbal tap dance, cherry picking information, the Chairman pulled out his trump card. This quote from Ari Fleischer:

“It was definitely the Bush administration that set it in motion and determined the timing, not the Congress. I think Karl in this instance just has his facts wrong.”

Rove looks dumbfounded that someone finally stood up to him and called out his fabrications face-to-face. Watch the video of Chris Van Hollen and contribute to help us continue holding Bush’s Rubber Stamp Republicans accountable. Don’t let them rewrite history and use their spin to promote their concocted story.

Watch highlights of Chairman Van Hollen taking Karl Rove to task.

You can also still help us to set the record straight with the media by sending a letter-to-the-editor or join our letter campaign and send a letter to Karl Rove.
