Why should the Republican Congress provide low interest loans to the ?
American car manufacturers to the tune of $50 billion? This is the same thing Lee Iaccoca requested for Chrysler. A government bailout. Before you answer, remember the Congress is controlled by the Republicans. Republicans are the majority of the Senate, Democrats are the majority in the House. The upper chamber is the "Decider" for the Congress regardless of how the House votes. Please inform.
Because the jobs and employment in the US would come back in taxes, etc.
Because the U.S. needs in-house manufacturing so that if there is a war and the borders are blockaded (or some related reason) we can still make things we need.
Because if the US car makers cannot fund their own retirement plans, it could put a larger burden on social services.
